Lotus on mul cotton

<p>Mul cotton is the thinnest cotton woven in India — historically the fabric of court summers. This dohar layers three panels of mul over a cotton wadding so light you forget it's there. The lotus pond is printed in indigo and ochre on a cream ground.</p>

The lotus-pond panel comes from a 19th-century Pichwai painting in Nathdwara; our block-cutter spent two months adapting it to a six-block repeat. Look closely at the koi: each one is from a different block.

Cold gentle wash, line-dry in shade. Do not bleach; do not tumble-dry — mul cotton bruises if handled roughly when wet.
