Cloth for the homes we keep.
Basuva began in a small workroom in rural West Bengal, with a single handloom and a question — what would Indian bedding look like if it were made the way our grandmothers stitched quilts, but for a newlywed couple in a Kolkata high-rise?
We work with three weaving families across rural West Bengal. Every order is woven on order — there is no warehouse, no backlog, no end-of-season sale. The trade-off is honest: you wait a little longer, and what arrives is something one person made from start to finish.
The cotton is Indian, grown without genetic modification, combed for a long staple, and softened over four washes before it reaches you. The block-prints are cut from teakwood in Sanganer and printed by hand, which is why every sheet carries the tiny imperfections of human work.
We send a hand-written note with every order. If something is wrong, the email goes to the same address it leaves from. That promise is the brand — the rest is just cloth and time.
